This rune must be carved on a drinking vessel or eating utensil. When the object touches something that contains poison, it shatters.

Note: Detect Poison and Disease (1st), ingested poison only.

2. Beastbond

“19. Freki and Geri does Odin feed, the far-famed fighter of old; but on wine alone does the weapon-decked God, Odin, forever live.”

Range: 30 feet
Duration: Concentration, up to 24 hours.

3. Beastspeak

4. Break

“A fourth I know, if men shall fasten, bonds on my bended legs; so great is the charm, that forth I may go, the fetters spring from my feet, broken the bonds from my hands.”

The user of this rune is instantly freed from all bonds, grapple effects, and spells and other magical effects can neither reduce the target’s speed nor cause the target to become paralyzed, grappled, or restrained. The effects of this rune last until the end of the user’s next turn.

Note: A limited Freedom of Movement effect that lasts 1 round.

5. Charm

“A sixteenth I know, if I seek delight to win from a maiden wise; the mind I turn of the white-armed maid, and thus change all her thoughts.”

Duration: 1 hour

This rune must be inscribed on an object, which then must be given to a humanoid while activated. The target makes a Wisdom saving throw, and does so with advantage if you or your companions have been fighting with it or its companions. If it fails the saving throw, it is charmed by you until the effect ends or until you or your companions do anything harmful to it. The charmed creature regards you as a friendly acquaintance. When the effect ends, the creature will only remember it was charmed by you if it loses possession of the object on which the rune was engraved; however, its attitude towards you will return to whatever it would normally be without the magical charm effect (modified by how you treated it while it was charmed).

Note: Charm Person with some changes.

6. Help

“The first is called help, and help it can bring thee, in sorrow and pain and sickness.”

Range: 30 feet
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute

7. Holmgang

This rune must be inscribed on a cloak or piece of clothing. It has the effect of the Compelled Duel (PHB p224) spell when activated.

8. Quench

“A seventh I know, if I see in flames the hall o’er my comrades’ heads; it burns not so wide that I will not quench it, I know that song to sing.”

This rune must be inscribed on an object or a person. When activated, all non-magical fires in the radius are extinguished. This does not harm creatures made out of fire.

9. Triumph
